A Thoughtful Way to Celebrate Mom
You know Mom deserves the best, but sometimes it’s hard to know how to express just how special she is. Not to mention that you want this year’s Mother’s Day to be different than the last. You could take her somewhere. Perhaps do something special with her. Or, better yet, you could bake her something she won’t forget!
This Mother’s Day we’ll help you pull off breakfast in bed with fresh baked pastry, a hot morning drink, and flowers! You know how often she has cooked, baked, and cleaned for you. Here’s how you can send that love right back to her!
On Saturday night, grab that frozen Kansas Maid™ Braided Pastry out of the freezer. Lightly grease a baking sheet or 9×13 baking pan. Remove the pastry from the packaging and place it in the center of the baking sheet (don’t throw out the frosting package, you’ll need that in the morning.) Let it rise all night (8-12 hrs) or until it doubles in size.
Get up 30 minutes before Mom! Put that pastry in the oven at 350 degrees and bake for 18-25 minutes. While it’s in the oven get her favorite hot beverage brewing. When the timer beeps remove the pastry from the oven.
While you’re waiting for it to cool, head outside and snip a few small blooms to dress up the breakfast tray. (If you don’t have flowers in your garden you can always snag a few at the store on Saturday.) Then drizzle with frosting and slice! Arrange the pastry slices on a pretty tray with her favorite morning beverage, flowers, and a napkin. Tiptoe to her room and surprise her with the smell of fresh baked pastry, hot tea or coffee, and the sweet scent of flowers. You’ll be sure to get that sleepy and surprised smile! Probably a hug too!
